Open Enrollment for Federal Employees what does this mean for you...

As the Office of Personnel Management gears up open season GEHA is hard at work preparing to attend over 1,000 fairs to educate federal employees about GEHA. Open season is the time when federal employees explore which plans to select for their medical and dental insurance for the 2008 calendar year. As GEHA employees prepare to administer these fairs they must acquaint themselves with the plan benefits and also the network providers in the area.

One point that has rang true from open season fairs is that federal employees are interested in who is "in network" for the plans they are considering. When you choose to be a preferred provider your name is printed in a directory and given to the federal employees at this open enrollment time. This allows you the ability of receiving new patient flow from theses fairs. These fairs also give federal employees the opportunity to ask questions and compare the different plans.

Often, many federal employees choose their medical and dental plans based upon the doctors and hospitals that are in network, as well as the cost and benefit structure of the plan. GEHA is proud to say that we are doing our part in keeping the cost of healthcare down. GEHA's Standard Option Plan again will see no increase in premiums and now will include an enhanced benefit of an eye care exam. PPOUSA/GEHA are also striving to keep enrollee premiums down. Less than 5% of the overall premium dollars are being used to administer the plan. This means that GEHA is allotting more of the premium dollars to go to enrollee benefits for providers like you!

So be aware open season is here.... and you too could be sharing in the fortune of increased patient flow for 2008.
